The Archos 605 generation 5 portable media player comes with a convenient WiFi feature, an attribute that offers the fastest and easiest way to access digital entertainment. You can use the built-in Wi-Fi capabilities of the Archos to download online media content from the Archos content portal: All you need is a usable Wi-Fi connection, and you’re good to start downloading (fees may apply). With the Archos in hand, for the first time you can download favorite movies, TV shows, and music wherever you are, without being tied to the PC or Mac. Other great features include a full-color 4.3-inch touchscreen that crams in an amazing 800 x 480 picture resolution for superior picture quality and 30 GB of built-in memory.
Arriving in reasonable 30GB, 80GB and enormous 160GB hard drive flavours, Archos has also seen fit to mix a 4GB Flash-based model into the equation. With plenty of music, movies and more ready and waiting to be uploaded, we snaffled the 30GB version from the sweaty palms of the Archos crew.
Aesthetically, the 605 is tailor-made for the iPod generation, garnered as it is with a smooth silver-white livery. At only 15mm thick - the 160GB model is a little more portly - it’s also slim enough to slip into your (oversized) pocket or bag without concern.
For watching video on the go, the Archos 605 WiFi media player offers a near-perfect combination of usability and portability. The 4.6-inch, 800-by-400-pixel wide-screen LCD is just the right size for close-up viewing on a train or plane, yet it slips easily into your bag or coat pocket. The touch screen makes it a cinch to operate, and wireless connectivity lets you easily stock up with media.

The good: With top-notch video resolution, incredible viewing angles, and integrated support for wireless movie downloads, the Archos 605 WiFi is the best of its breed.
The bad: Battery life is only average. Many users will need to shell out extra for software and hardware accessories they’ll wish were included.
The bottom line: The Archos 605 WiFi portable video player is one of the best mobile distractions money can buy.
