Edirol R-09 Audio Recorder - black Reviews
The latest addition to Edirol’s red-hot portable recorder lineup: the R-09. Building on the success of the R-1, the R-09 takes many of the most desired features — 24-bit uncompressed recording and a built-in stereo mic — and shrinks it all down into a more streamlined, stylish, and affordable package.
The R-09 uses an onboard condenser microphone for high-quality 24-bit digital audio capture. The microphone can be run in mono- or stereo-mode depending on your intended source. Mono may be adequate for lectures, podcasts, or interviews, while stereo is better for sample-gathering or music. You get a low-cut filter and a gain boost with peak indicator to be sure your incoming signal is at its best. Vocals will have more clarity, and the signal will be strong and clean without excess noise muddying up your tracks. The integrated reverb effect helps add lush ambience to an otherwise dry take. Long, eye-drooping speeches will gain some much-needed life and color. While you can’t make the content any more interesting, the speaker will thank you for making them sound so good.
We found the Edirol R-09 to be a good all-round performer. The built in microphones are good in comparison to some of its competition. Its small size, low weight, good battery life, use of increasingly inexpensive SD memory cards, together with its ease of use, make it an attractive choice for fieldwork use. Our fieldworker in Nigeria reports that his R-09 has been working well despite the high temperature and humidity.

Edirol R-09 Audio Recorder - black Reviews From cnet
The good: The Edirol R-09 is a pocket-size portable audio recorder that offers built-in stereo microphones, 24-bit audio resolution, direct-to-MP3 encoding, expandable SD flash memory, and automatic gain control.
The bad: The Edirol R-09 lacks advanced features such as audio editing, file bookmarking, and 96KHz recording. The screen is small and hard to see in direct sunlight.
The bottom line: The Edirol R-09 isn’t perfect, but what it lacks in features, it makes up in its small size and rich recording detail.
