IRiver’s legendary reputation for sound quality is maintained in this simple flash based player. Available in 1, 2 and 4GB formats, the T60 is a straightforward player with hidden depth.

The portents are good that I may not suffer the gremlins and atrocious build quality that I have with other models. Loaded to the gills with music, if this model continues to impress I may invest in another(The 4GB version) so I can rotate the two and enjoy more of my music collection. Heres hoping the next instalment of my affiliation with MP3 players is some considerable time off.

Triangular music players are trendy at the moment and iRiver’s T60 is about half the length of the smallest Toblerone. Available in a variety of colours, all three faces of the player are used. The front face has a full-colour LCD display and a five-way jog dial, while the back has three buttons, referred to as play/stop, A-B and recording, though the recording button has other uses too.

iRiver T60 2GB MP3 Player Reviews from Cnet

The good: Amazing sound quality; using AAA batteries is convenient; high-quality OGG support.

The bad: Navigation can be tricky; low-res screen.

The bottom line: The iriver T60 terrific-sounding player, and many people will find the use of AAA batteries handy. But the very low-resolution screen doesn’t impress and navigating the thing can be tricky at times.a

iRiver T60 2GB MP3 Player Reviews from Amazon

Pros:

- Very compact size; I am enamored of the triangular shape, very sleek.

- Powered by a single AAA battery, available everywhere.

Cons:

- Toggle control is poorly conceived; as others have said, you often do one thing when you mean another; it’s this player’s biggest problem, not a deal breaker but they really should have spent more time designing this; you do get used to it but that’s no excuse for poor design.

- Flimsy battery door; not a huge con but it’s an important part of the unit and I could see it getting cracked and not fitting securely and then you either try to get another one from iRiver or use ugly tape to keep the battery in; could have been designed better; however they did do a good job of hiding it in the sense that it sort of blends in with the player’s fluted texture which is cool.
