Samsung’s new flagship portable media player, the P2, is sleek and svelte enough to catch the eye of potential iPhone or iPod Touch buyers. Sammy’s touchscreen interface isn’t

nearly as sophisticated and fluid as Apple’s, and the player’s lack of WiFi may be a dealbreaker for some, but the built-in Bluetooth is handy for wireless listening and even for taking calls. We took our P2 for a spin and found it a worthy competitor to heavyweights like the iPod touch and the Microsoft Zune.

Samsung’s P2 is their flagship MP3/PMP device with many features, starring the full screen touch interface. Bluetooth also plays a supporting role in the feature set, giving the player the ability to connect to wireless headphones and to your mobile phone (in future updates). The Samsung P2 is a 4 GB Flash-based portable media player with a three-inch widescreen LCD and a slim-style form factor. Capable of video, music, photo, and FM radio playback, the P2 lets you enjoy your favorite media files wherever you go. The player supports video playback in MPEG4, SVI, and WMV9 file formats and audio playback in MP3, WMA, and subscription WMA file formats. JPEG files can be viewed as pictures or slideshows. Packed with such additional features as an alarm clock, world clock, and calendar functionality, the P2 is an extremely multifunctional media player.
